Silence in the Theatre in Summer / Letnia cisza w teatrze

The exhibition "Silence of the Dolls in the Summer.... What Does It Mean?" in Olsztyn Puppet Theatre is opened only till 15th of August. I got enchanted by this exhibition as soon as I walked into  the foyer which made me feel entering a magical world - unreal, dramtic and diverse. Everything ceased to be obvious and I felt as Moomins who during flood took shelter in the theatre and, not knowing what it really was, were taken by surprise whenever they discovered anything about the mechanism of the theatre. 

Tylko do 15 sierpnia w Olsztyńskim Teatrze Lalek otwarta jest wystawa "O czym lalki milczą latem". Jestem zauroczona tą wystawą ponieważ już wchodząc do foyer czułam się jakbym wchodziła do magicznego świata - nierealnego, dramatycznego i różnorodnego. Wszystko przestało tu być oczywiste, a ja miałam wrażenie, że jestem jak Muminki, które w trakcie powodzi znalazły schronienie w teatrze, a ponieważ nie wiedziały czym on jest wszystko wydawało się im niespotykane i magiczne. 

Every corner has a different character but all of them have in common the same theatrical atmosphere and consistency in creating the mood with e.g. colours and textures of the textiles. Besides I was moved by the vintage look of many puppets (e.g. Winnie the Pooh). And what about Kiku? She was happy that she could experience the puppets and props so closely which are normally  unattainable. (Adults may also take pleasure in doing something that is either as surreal as joining a puppet in eating fake ice-cream or as forbidden as touching props)

Każdy z zakątków ma nieco inny charakter, ale wszystkie łączy pewna teatralna atmosfera i  konsekwencja w tworzeniu nastroju za pomocą m. in. kolorów i faktrur tkanin. Poza tym,  rozczulił mnie fakt iż wiele lalek i eksponatów została wykonana w estetyce wyjętej prosto ze starych bajek telewizyjnych (np. Kubuś Puchatek). A Kiku? Była uradowana możliwością tak bliskiego obcowania z czymś co zwykle jest odległe i nieosiągalne podczas spektaklu (wystawa ta daje także dorosłym możliwość robienia czegoś zakazanego lub surrealnego - można dotykać eksponatów lub przysiąść się do lalki jedzącej sztuczne lody). Najbardziej podobała się jej chatka Puchatka, do której się wgramoliła i nie chciała wyjść.

What do you think you would enjoy most from this exhibition if 

you were a child now?

I guess it would be the sea corner. I remember that when I was a child I enjoyed swimming a lot and I wanted to see all the fish and underwater creatures and stay there. That was my dream.

Jak myślisz, gdybyś była teraz dzieckiem co by Ci się w tej wystawie najbardziej podobało?

Chyba  kącik morski.  Gdy przypominam sobie siebie z dzieciństwa pamiętam, że bardzo lubiłam pływać i bardzo chciałam zobaczyć wszystkie te rybki i stworzenia z podwodnego świata i chciałam tam zostać. To było moje marzenie.

And what do you enjoy as an adult?

London corner. It refers to my memories from few years ago from London, where my best memories come from. And French corner because  it is my dream to go Paris.

 A z perspektywy osoby dorosłej co Ci się najbardziej podoba?

Kącik londyński. Odwołuje się on bowiem do moich wspomnień sprzed kilku lat, okresu i miejsca, z których zachowałam moje najlepsze wspomnienia. I kącik francuski bo marzę by pojechać do Paryża.

What was the intention of this exhibition?

I wanted the viewers to feel that they are in different space which is not Polish - to give them the feeling that they may be for a moment in Paris, London or sea but on the different, artistic level.

Jaka była koncepcja, zamysł tej wystawy?

Chciałam żeby odwiedzający faktycznie znalazł się w  przestrzeni niepolskiej - dać mu wrażenie że przez chwilę może znaleźć się w Paryżu, Londynie, nad morzem, ale na innym, artystycznym poziomie.

What did you enjoy most in the process of designing this exhibition?

Arranging the puppets and the feeling that it was me who was writing the scenario for them.

Co sprawiało Ci największą przyjemność w tworzeniu tej wystawy?

Ustawianie lalek i świadomość, że teraz to ja piszę im scenariusz.
